Advanced Processing Tips & Tricks: Optimizing Your Sound System
Mike DeFreece - Biamp
Digital Signal
Processing (DSP) has now become the standard method of the control and
optimization for sounds systems. In this course, we will explore
and demonstrate effective methods for getting the most out of your sound
system using advanced DSP devices. Listen as we make changes in
real time to both live and recorded program material and learn what each
of the settings inside the DSP really does. We will equip you to
tackle some of the toughest problems you will face in today's audio
systems. Topics covered will include how to setup proper gain
structure, how to use dynamics processing to your advantage, and how to
properly use each type of equalizer. We will also explore the
concept of storing and recalling multiple presets to change the sound
system on the fly. The techniques learned in this class will be
applicable to any live sound operator or recording engineer.

Advanced Projection Technologies for Worship
Richard Hill - Digital Projection
When
evaluating projection products, much emphasis is often placed on key
specifications such as brightness (lumens) and contrast (black level).
These specifications present the performance parameters that relate to
the dynamic range the projector is capable of producing in a “black
room” environment. Although vitally important, they are but a
component of the equation necessary to define the actual dynamic range
the system will produce when installed in House of Worship.
In this workshop we will
explore, the different technologies available today and those coming
tomorrow. We will discuss projector specifications including resolution
as well as the other components to consider when implementing a
projection display in your House of Worship.

Sound Reinforcement Systems Monitoring - Present & Future
Miguel Hadelich - Lab Gruppen
Manufacturers have provided us with information regarding sound system
components for many years. The option of monitoring their condition and
performance has not reached it’s maximum potential. Offering the
operator the ability to monitor in real-time: current, voltage,
limiting, distortion, power compression and others is crucial for
optimized performance and longevity of components. This presentation
will focus on available tools and future trends in sound system
monitoring.

The Art of Equalization - How to Make Things Sound Right!
Chuck Walthall - Walthall & Associates
This course will explore the fundamental elements of frequency, filters
and how to apply equalization to sound sources. There is more to
equalization then just turning knobs or moving sliders in hopes of
limiting feedback or fixing something that does not sound right. A
nature sound response is dependent on every device's quality it flows
through and is subject to the acoustical signature of the space.
Practical applications will be discussed that will benefit the learners.

The Tech Team & Beyond
David Burton - Providence Baptist
In the first verses of Psalms 33, we¹re urged to make music to the Lord,
sing to Him a new song and play skillfully. I know this is speaking in
the context of musicians and their instruments but I would like to take
a different angle and approach it as our instruments being the cameras,
switcher, computer and sound board or whatever it is we are working on.
What to do with your tech team?

The Unseen Magic of Acoustics - Say What?
Chuck Walthall - Walthall & Associates
This course defines and unveils the underlining fundamentals of
acoustics, primarily architectural acoustics. All loudspeaker systems
are subject to the acoustical characteristics of the space in which they
reside. A room's acoustical signature can not be fixed with the sound
system. Digital reverberation systems will be discussed and how they are
predicted to shape the future of acoustical design. A practical will be
included as part of a questions & answers section.
