With less than 2 weeks until the 700 MHz Ban takes effect, here we recap all of the important details and links for you.

Space is quickly filling for our Presonus Launch Party / Digital Mixing & Multitrack Recording on June 24th, full details are below!

Finally, be sure to mark your calendar for Techxplosion 2010, which will be held October 15-16 in Clearwater, FL.
Wireless Roundup - Countdown to June 12th
FCC Logo
Did you know that this is the LAST SUNDAY you may use any "700 MHz Band" Wireless Mics?

On May 26th, an enforcement advisory was released that reinforced the ban on purchase/sale of the forbidden units, but also requires a consumer alert be disclosed to all customers:

FCC Alert

Many manufacturers are now printing this alert on the packaging, and all dealers are required to disclose this to you.  This alert is only required on TV BAND (VHF or UHF Frequencies - not 900 MHz or 2.4 GHz devices.) The FCC is evaluating wireless microphone use, and may in the future change the rules - or require licensing.  It is important that you stay aware, and make informed purchasing decisions.

With just 9 days until 700MHz Band Wireless Microphones become illegal to use, we thought it might be helpful to recap the details and provide answers to questions that our customers have been asking.

· What happens if I don't stop using my 700 MHz Band wireless microphone? "Using the 700 MHz Band for a wireless microphone (or similar device) after June 12, 2010 could be extremely dangerous and could even be life threatening. Police and fire departments, and other public safety groups, use frequencies in the 700 MHz Band. Interference from wireless microphones can affect the ability of public safety groups to receive information over the air and respond to emergencies. Harmful interference to these communications could put you or public safety personnel in grave danger. In addition, use of your microphone can cause unlawful interference to consumer services provided using the 700 MHz Band. Operation of wireless microphones in violation of these rules may subject the user to substantial monetary forfeitures, in rem arrest action against the offending radio equipment and criminal sanctions, including imprisonment. Because any operation in violation of these rules creates a danger of interference to important radio communications services and may subject the operator to severe penalties, this advisory emphasizes the importance of complying strictly with these legal requirements." · I heard that churches and schools were exempt from this policy, is this correct?  No - there are no exemptions from this policy.  Even licensed users must cease operation before 6/12.

· My wireless mic is capable of tuning to 698-699 MHz and/or 800-806 MHz, can I use the mic in those frequencies?  No - the "700 MHz Band" is 698 - 806 MHz and no devices may operate in this band.

· Can I ship my 700 MHz microphones to missionaries overseas? Possibly - you must check the laws governing wireless mics in the destination country.  In some areas, these frequencies are reserved for law enforcement/public safety.

Many manufacturers have provided rebates (up to $1,000 back!), which expire in June.

Do NOT risk operating these microphones illegally.  If you have been unable to replace your system yet due to budgetary concerns, please give us a call.  We are happy to assist you in selecting the best unit to meet your needs and budget.

Note: With the deadline approaching - it is possible some wireless microphones may become backordered.  To qualify for most manufacturer rebates, you must have an invoice dated 6/30 or earlier. (BE SURE TO CHECK individual rebates for exact dates!)
